I served as Technical Lead developing an interactive data visualization for artist Lizania Cruz’s piece Evidence 071: Frederick Douglass and The Commission of Inquiry which was presented as part of the Open Call 2023 group exhibition at The Shed, NYC. The project involved preparing and cleansing a large dataset of archival research from Lizania, as well as building a CMS which allowed the artist to customize content on the installation. Co devekioer MK Skitka built a React Web app to facilitate the touchscreen interaction and display the data. The installation also included a back end for signing up users, storing user sessions, and collecting comments from users.
The exhibition was live from November 2023- Jan 2024 at the Shed. The Commission of Inquiry is A multimedia installation, based on Cruz’s research in the Dominican Republic, that explores the role of US imperialism and asks audiences to consider their relation to ongoing processes of colonization.'
